Warum Pflege uns alle betrifft! (1)
The focus is on making visible care situations that have previously taken place behind closed doors. The public is made aware of these issues, which improves the situation for those in need of care and their family carers. Participatory ways of relieving the burden on family members are identified. Concrete and fictional care situations at home, formulated by the participating project members, are described and visually represented.
The project specifically initiates encounters and networks between all participants in order to promote a supportive community based on solidarity (atmospheres for a better life). There is a particular focus on the connection between design and democracy: visual representations, especially portraits of the people involved, illustrate everyday care activities and give them personal meaning.
At the same time, the visibility of informal care work is intended to promote the development of social support structures in order to enable those affected to participate more democratically. The provision of helpful information contributes to public awareness and the promotion of solidarity. The project relies on empathy and common interest to initiate new partnerships, networks and, in particular, neighbourly help to complement established support services.
