Using the clubhouse of an allotment garden as an example, alternative uses are developed that are intended to contribute positively to the communal experience. Three thematic areas are addressed methodically: exploring the "genius loci," or "spirit of the place"; design that takes into account one's own cultural background; and "wild thinking," a guide to creativity.
The visibility of a deficiency and the limitation of resources encourages us to become creative. Certain working methods and the experience of unfamiliarity can support the creative process. The freedom to think and design in any direction and in any way expands our possibilities.
Under the circumstances described here, ideas will be transformed into sketches and models in the workshop, which, where possible, will finally be woven into a concept for the use and development of the existing (infra)structure.
The clubhouse is wheelchair accessible; parking is available only in the public car park on the access road. Public transport links are available via the S-Bahn lines S1 (towards Wiesbaden) and S2 (towards Niedernhausen).
The meeting point for participants is on Sunday, 17 May at 2.00 pm in front of the Griesheim Historical Society, Autogenstraße 19, approx. 100m from Griesheim S-Bahn station.
The contribution towards catering costs is waived for this event.
As an artist, graphic designer, activist, and lecturer, I have developed and tested workshop ideas with Schwarm21, a multi-professional project collective, aimed at fostering a more nuanced understanding of societal challenges. Our partners include KGV-Westend e.V., an allotment garden association, the local historical society, and local individuals from fields such as art, education, and gastronomy.
