From April 17 (opening at 19:00) to June 18, our exhibition "Work with me, play with me – the Frankfurt Chair" by Frankfurt artist Julia Roppel will be on display.
The Frankfurt Chair, invented almost 100 years ago and since then a design icon, is at the center of the work and, for us, the occasion to compile a small cultural history of sitting during a special event with self-brought seating furniture. It can be a chair or a stool, it can come from the 17th century or from the 1980s—we look forward to a wide variety of seating furniture coming together on May 29 from 7 pm, and to starting a conversation about furniture. Over a glass of wine, the sit-in can also be discussed as a possibility of democratic participation. Everyone is warmly invited to take part in this curated sit-in — if in doubt, even without a chair.
At the Frankfurt Art Column, on the corner of Brückenstraße and Gutzkowstraße in Sachsenhausen, near Schweizer Platz
Our venue is fully accessible and there is no admission charge.
Frankfurter KunstSäule is an Offspace in the middle of Frankfurt Sachsenhausen where inhabitants, Flaneurs and art people meet and talk about art and democracy. In the first exhibition we show Julia Roppel and her work with the Frankfurt Chair.
