As part of the StadtGarten Wiesbaden exhibition at WerkRaum Wiesbaden, this outdoor workshop invites participants to experience urban nature from a new perspective.
Together with Yari Or, Professor at the Transformative Social Work Lab at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, participants explore an urban natural environment through guided sensory and listening exercises in public space.
How do we perceive urban nature? And what changes when we stop seeing nature merely as something to shape and begin listening to it?
Our bodies constantly register signals from the environment: temperature, light, sounds, smells and vibrations. Most of these impressions remain unnoticed in everyday life. This workshop brings these often-overlooked perceptions into focus and opens new perspectives on the relationship between people, nature and the city.
Drawing on the practice of ecosomatics, the workshop understands body and environment as interconnected rather than separate. Through walking, listening and collective reflection, participants explore urban nature not simply as green infrastructure but as a social space that supports encounter, well-being and participation.
The workshop is open to everyone. No prior knowledge is required.
Please bring:
- Comfortable clothing
- Smartphone and headphones
- Curiosity and openness
The event will take place primarily outdoors and includes a guided walk. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing. The meeting point is the WerkRaum Wiesbaden.
Participation is free of charge and open to everyone.
The format is conceived and led by Yari Or (Transformative Social Work Lab, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences). The workshop is part of the activation programme of WerkRaum Wiesbaden and accompanies the StadtGarten Wiesbaden exhibition. It invites participants to experience urban nature as an integral part of public space and urban quality of life.
