Arabic and Hebrew scripts are always read before they are read – as political signals, as cultural markers, as signs of both belonging and conflict. The weight of their respective contexts is inscribed into their typographic form.

In this evening discussion, the two type designers Golnar Katrahmani from Type & Politics and Liad Shadmi reflect on how they entered this charged typographic space during their two-day workshop – and how the collaborative design of type can dispel stereotypes, challenge projections and shift external attributions. The discussion will be moderated by Felix Kosok, Head of Design Discourse at World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026.
