‘Disabled? Off to the workshop!’ – this is still the case for many people with cognitive impairments. Despite efforts to promote inclusion, they rarely find access to the regular labour market, even though they could perform the tasks required in suitable areas. Whether in a workshop, an inclusive company or the primary labour market, the focus should always be on where the individual can best use their skills.

In view of the shortage of skilled workers due to the retirement of the baby boomers, the question arises: can we afford to forego this potential? It can also be worthwhile for companies to make targeted use of the skills of people with disabilities. This evening, we want to discuss how this can be achieved and what obstacles there are.

With: Christiane van den Borg (Head of the Inclusion Department of the City of Frankfurt am Main), Dr. Christoph Kahlenberg (Head of the Randstad Academy at Randstad Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG), Inge Meichsner (Head of the Berta Jourdan Vocational School) and Thomas Niermann (Head of the Integration Office at the Landeswohlfahrtsverband Hessen)
Moderator: Marie Lisa Kehler, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
