In this exhibition, we are presenting wood-fired ceramics by three Japanese ceramicists on the upper floor of our gallery.
All three artists are rooted in their respective regional ceramic traditions and carry these forward in a contemporary manner. Ceramics created through wood firing are characterised by a raw, unpolished quality. Their colouration and the natural ash-infused glazes are formed directly in the kiln during the firing process.
