Ein Projekt von WAVA, initiiert vom Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain im Rahmen von World Design Capital 2026 mit dem Main-Taunus-Kreis und den Kommunen Bad Soden, Eppstein, Flörsheim, Hattersheim, Hochheim, Hofheim und Kelkheim.

In his artistic practice, Maglione reflects on time, movement, and social hierarchies in the context of mobility. Set in the middle of the station grounds, his video work depicts people waiting, recognizable only as reflections on the surfaces of passing trains. For Maglione, train stations thus become symbols of social inequality. The interior and exterior views of the trains, combined with the mirrored depiction of the people, make this clear: While travel stands for status, prosperity, and freedom of movement, those standing on the sidelines seem to be denied this freedom and participation.

“Here, Where We Are – Virtual Art Around the Corner” is a project by the WAVA Collective, initiated by the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain as part of World Design Capital 2026. In seven municipalities of the Main-Taunus district—Bad Soden, Eppstein, Flörsheim, Hattersheim, Hochheim, Hofheim, and Kelkheim—eight site-specific AR installations by eleven international artists expand the public space. Through the free WAVA app, available for iOS and Android, familiar places are made accessible as artistic sites around the clock: historical references come to light, and new narratives emerge. The project examines public space in the hybrid age and explores how digital interventions expand our perception of places.
