Frankfurt UAS – Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences

The Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) is located in the heart of the Frankfurt RheinMain metropolitan region. With more than 15,000 students from over 100 nations, four academic departments and 72 degree programmes, the Frankfurt UAS offers a diverse, practice-oriented and internationally connected environment for teaching and research.

Her strength lies in the integration of teaching, interdisciplinary research and real-world applications: students and faculty develop forward-looking ideas and solutions — ranging from architecture and engineering to digitalization, mobility and logistics, as well as health, social participation and sustainability.

As an innovation-driven network university, Frankfurt UAS fosters exchange with around 200 partner universities worldwide, opening up a wide range of international perspectives and collaborations – and, as a U!REKA European University, is committed at European level to the joint transition to climate-neutral societies.

With regard to World Design Capital 2026, the Frankfurt UAS is actively involved in a wide range of future-oriented projects: from inclusive voting booths and reimagined uses of urban space to discursive formats such as “Urban Commons” and “HumanNature,” as well as climate-related initiatives like “Climate Community Streetplay.” These projects connect education, design and social engagement, showcasing the impact design can have in urban contexts. The focus is on democratic participation, social and ecological sustainability, and the participatory design of public spaces. Through these contributions, Frankfurt UAS plays an active role in shaping the Rhine-Main region — as a creative driver and a place of innovation and transformation.
