Mehr Demokratie e.V., Landesverband Hessen
Cities and municipalities face a variety of challenges, such as demographic change, energy transition, mobility, housing shortages and climate adaptation. At the same time, political camps are hardening, discussions are escalating and trust is being lost. In order to tackle these issues together with citizens, new spaces for exchange and dialogue are needed.
This is exactly where the Speaking & Listening dialogue format comes in. Mehr Demokratie e.V. invites citizens to moderated discussions in which even controversial topics can be discussed constructively. The aim is to build bridges between people with different opinions and to enable respectful handling of conflicts and divisive issues.
The format is based on clear rules of dialogue, mindful moderation and a simple, well-structured process in small groups. The timed speaking and listening creates space to truly perceive needs, emotions and different perspectives. Each event lasts around 2.5 hours and offers the opportunity for intensive discussion. The topics are determined together with the cities and are based on currently relevant issues.
In cooperation with the House for Democracy and Diversity in Hanau and the Partnership for Democracy Offenbach, Mehr Demokratie e. V. brings democratic culture to life and strengthens constructive coexistence.
