Haus für Demokratie und Vielfalt in Hanau, Evangelisches Forum Hanau+, Mehr Demokratie e.V.
...
Democracy thrives on open and respectful exchange – even when dealing with challenging issues. The theme of the evening is: Is democracy a thing of the past or a way forward? How do I feel about the state of our political system?
As part of the Long Night of Democracy and in cooperation with the House for Democracy and Diversity in Hanau, Mehr Demokratie e.V. brings democratic culture to life and fosters constructive cooperation.
Socially relevant and controversial topics tend to bring together a wide range of perspectives. Efforts to convince others through arguments alone can deepen divisions, making it increasingly difficult to recognize shared viewpoints.
This is exactly where the dialogue format Speaking & Listening comes in. Going beyond the objective exchange of facts and arguments, this dialogue format encourages participants to share personal stories, listen attentively to one another and learn about different perspectives. The aim is to build bridges between people with differing views and to enable a respectful approach to conflict and divisive questions.
The format is based on clear dialogue rules, mindful facilitation, and a simple, well-structured process in small groups. Timed speaking and listening create space to truly perceive needs, emotions, and diverse perspectives. (Further dates in Hanau: September 16, 2026, and November 14, 2026)
The evening’s topic will be announced at a later date.
