...

The traditional product manufacturer has one clear incentive: they earn when a product is sold, and again when it has to be replaced. In other words, they profit from failure. A usage based provider, by contrast, loses when a product fails. But in nature there is no waste. The only system on Earth that produces waste is our current linear economy of make, use, and discard. That is a design flaw, and design is exactly what can fix it.

The circular and sharing economy is growing from 366 billion euros today at around 24.8 percent annually, reaching more than 1.4 trillion euros by 2030. This makes it one of the fastest growing economic forces of our time. And Germany has the industrial base to lead it.

Every product that is thrown away is a missed opportunity and a lost business case. Nature has managed circular systems for 3.8 billion years without waste. We already have the knowledge and the technology. What is missing is the decision to use them. The question is not whether this shift will happen, but who will shape it and who will be shaped by it.

Fire belonged to no one. The wheel belonged to no one. Writing belongs to no one. The internet belongs to no one.

The intelligent usage revolution will belong to no one either. That is exactly why it can benefit everyone. In its first step alone, it represents around 200 billion euros, growing to roughly 340 billion with multiplier effects each year, and several trillion over a decade. No risk. No distant future. Just a decision.

Rent.Group enables circular temporary use. With 1,150+ employees across 30+ locations in 11 European countries and 30 years of experience, it supports a shift to a circular sharing society creating environmental and social value. With 4,500 product categories and 6 million items, it helps design events and workplaces that inspire and are enjoyable. The guiding principle: every item shared.
