Gestaltungszentrale Politik

...

When does contact between politics and civil society happen — and when doesn't it? Where do misunderstandings arise, and how could exchange be shaped differently? These questions are at the heart of the opening workshop of the project "Politische Gestaltungsbegleitung" (Political Design Accompaniment).

The workshop brings citizens and political representatives together in mixed groups. In an open, facilitated format, participants share their everyday experiences of political encounter — in their constituency, in their community, in direct contact. The focus is not on political positions, but on the question of how exchange between politics and society emerges, functions, or breaks down.

The perspectives of participants are the first step in the project: they form the foundation for the subsequent project phases, in which the results will be deepened with experts and translated by professional designers into new approaches to political communication and participation.

The workshop thrives on diverse perspectives. Everyone is welcome who wants to contribute their experiences and encounter new points of view — regardless of political affiliation or prior knowledge.

Informal catering will accompany the evening.

The workshop on 6 May is a one-off event. The remaining phases of the project will take place behind closed doors. The project’s findings will be unveiled in August 2026 and presented to the public in November 2026 as part of the World Design Capital – date and venue to be confirmed.

Gestaltungszentrale Politik e.V. is a non-profit organisation at the intersection of society, politics, and design. We develop new ways of working within political processes and explore how design can make political decision-making more transparent, comprehensible, and dialogic. In collaboration with political actors, researchers, and professional designers, we create transferable formats for a modern democratic design culture.
