The Half Time Show & Folding Bike Design
On the ground floor of the museum, you will find the WDC Hub. Here, you can get information about the WDC programme and the background to the World Design Capital title. We are also currently showing The Half Time Show—a photo exhibition featuring projects from the first half of our programme. For the bicycle fans amongst you, we have something special in the WDC Hub: the winning design of the limited WDC x Brompton Special Edition. The design for the well-known folding bike resulted from an international open call and was created by Swedish designer Andreas Samuelsson.
Antifascist Bouncy Castle
The bouncy castle in the WDC Hub, designed by Frieder Bohaumilitzky, is modelled on a real-life landmark: Hambach Castle. Alongside St Paul's Church in Frankfurt, this is another important monument of German democracy. Try it out for yourself—you do not always have to just debate democracy; you can experience it physically, too. The installation illustrates that design is never neutral, but can also serve as a tool of appropriation or create a space for developing counter-strategies. You can find the bouncy castle in the WDC Hub. It can be used by guests big and small at their own risk.
Facade Projection
From Friday evening, the facade of the Museum Angewandte Kunst will transform into a glowing canvas. The vibrant projection plays with the structure of the facade, staging numerous moments from the WDC annual programme into a diverse kaleidoscope of the Frankfurt RheinMain region. You can get a great view of the projection every day from dusk onwards, at around 21:00, from both sides of the riverbank.
Times:
- Friday: 15:00–20:00, followed by the facade projection
- Saturday: 10:00–20:00, followed by the facade projection
- Sunday: 10:00–20:00, followed by the facade projection
