Students of the BGBA Hanau, University of Cooperative Education are developing sustainable meeting places for urban areas. The aim is to create mobile community gardens that can be flexibly placed within the urban environment, inviting citizens to pause, connect, and engage in the dialogue about sustainable urban development. The project seeks to promote biodiversity, makes sustainable design tangible, and strengthens social participation.

The mobile gardens respond to the lack of open, green meeting spaces in densely built urban areas, combining ecological responsibility with collaborative design. Citizens are actively involved through workshops, planting activities, and participatory processes.

The project becomes visible through pop-up gardens, public events, and digital communication. It is a cooperation with local initiatives, municipal authorities, and educational partners such as the Hanau Environmental Centre. It is being implemented during the summer semester under the direction of graduate designer Thea Griep and Professor Kai Linke.
