Mobile Gärten – Nachhaltige Begegnungsorte
BGBA Hanau - University of Cooperative Education
The Mobile Gärten project focuses on the challenge of making urban spaces more sustainable, communal and livable. In times of increasing densification and social isolation, there is a growing need for open, green meeting places that combine ecological responsibility with social participation.
Cities in particular often lack low-threshold, communally designed places that promote environmental awareness, creativity and neighbourliness. Mobile Gärten responds to this need with a mobile concept: students at BGBA Hanau are developing convertible community gardens that can be flexibly placed in urban spaces. They invite people to get involved, linger and exchange ideas about sustainable urban development.
The project aims to promote biodiversity, raise awareness of sustainable design options and strengthen social relationships through joint activities in public spaces. Citizens are actively involved – through open workshops, gardening activities and participatory design processes, but also in planting and maintenance.
In addition to students, local initiatives, municipal authorities, educational institutions and the Hanau Environmental Centre are also involved.
