Zischt wie Abbelsaft – social ride

We invite you to join us for a low-barrier, social sports activity where we’ll actively explore Darmstadt from new perspectives.

We’ll set out by bike in search of the Darmbach, which simply disappears into the sewer system, and ask ourselves what this means for our city as the climate becomes drier and hotter. Afterward, we’ll ride to the orchard meadows—a hidden gem and a traditional cultural landscape in the Rhine-Main region. Scattered orchards are among the most species-rich habitats; they’re part of local culture and enrich the region, but are often displaced by expanding cities and soil sealing. To wrap up the event together, we’ll enjoy a cool apple spritzer at the Bessunger Orangerie.

Despite covering 16 km and about 160 meters of elevation gain, this social ride isn’t primarily focused on fitness level or equipment, but rather on a spirit of adventure and the shared joy of cycling. Be sure to bring a helmet. If your bike has technical issues, let us know and stop by our weekly hands-on workshop.
