Shaping Urban Culture

How can cultural spaces become catalysts for the transformation of our cities? Using the example of the KulturCampus Wiesbaden, this lecture format explores the vision of a new urban district that connects culture, the creative industries, and public life in innovative ways.

At the heart of the discussion is the idea of a European Hip-Hop Museum — conceived as a vibrant space for the history, present, and future of urban culture. Rooted in the tradition of the Wiesbaden Wall Street Meetings and the international network of Meeting of Styles, the project combines local authenticity with a global perspective. Planned features include interactive exhibitions, educational programs, archives, events, and international collaborations, all aimed at establishing the museum as a central platform for urban culture and creative exchange. Building on the urban development concept study by 3DELUXE for the KulturCampus Wiesbaden, the evening offers insights into a project vision at the intersection of culture, the creative industries, urban development, and society. At its core is the question of what role cultural infrastructure can play in shaping identity, participation, and the future development of urban spaces — in Wiesbaden and beyond.
