On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, the TU Kunstforum’s second Art & Science Talk will take place at 6 pm. We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr Enno Giese, Professor of Theoretical Quantum Optics at TU Darmstadt. He will be in conversation with Julia Reichelt, M.A., Director of the TU Kunstforum. The topic will be Annegret Soltau’s “daily diagrams”, which are being exhibited for the very first time in the current exhibition “VATERSUCHE” at the Kunstforum. Diagrams are also found in quantum physics. We look forward to an exciting evening that links current research at TU Darmstadt with contemporary art!
About Prof. Dr Enno Giese:
Enno Giese’s current research encompasses quantum states of individual atoms that move through space and time along multiple paths simultaneously, as well as precision optical measurements. One focus is on novel methods for investigating the interface between gravity and quantum physics. His research group develops concepts that are incorporated, among other things, into experiments in microgravity to test fundamental physical principles using modern methods of quantum optics.
About Julia Reichelt, M.A.:
Julia Reichelt heads the Kunstforum at TU Darmstadt and curates the exhibitions. Her curatorial focus is on promoting and bringing to light surprising artistic perspectives, many of which are being exhibited for the first time. Particular emphasis is placed on female artists and the promotion of diversity. She links the exhibitions to current research at TU Darmstadt. This gives rise to exciting formats that invite visitors to take a fresh look at art – and science.
Information about the exhibition
Annegret Soltau is one of the most significant contemporary feminist artists. Since the 1970s, she has explored questions of personal and social identity, reflecting on her position as a woman within the construct of her own family. The exhibition focuses on two key series by the artist: the ‘Vatersuche’ (Search for Father) series (1988–present) and the complete, previously unseen series of ‘Tagesdiagramme’ (Daily Diagrams) from 1977. Both series invite visitors to explore them page by page – like an artist’s book extending into the space.
The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive interdisciplinary supporting programme.
