The Ressourcengarten is part of CAMPUSBAULAB at the Department of Architecture at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. As an experimental space for learning, working, and gathering, it makes living, renewable resources tangible in terms of their growth, care, ecological effectiveness, and potential use for architecture, design, and food.
From sowing to possible application, a process-based relationship emerges between growth, materiality, and design practice. At the same time, the garden becomes legible as a shared habitat of humans, plants, animals, soil, and water. An accompanying tree and resource trail communicates the value of existing and newly planted species in relation to biodiversity, climate, and their potential as dye plants, material resources, edible plants, or sources of essential oils.
As part of Open, the CAMPUSBAULAB will open its doors from June 8 to 12, providing a space for exchange, collaborative experimentation, and diverse approaches to questions of construction and design. Accompanying workshops on color and material experimentation will enrich the program, offering participants the opportunity to experience renewable resources in their sensory, material, and creative dimensions.
