BAULAB is a project run by Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, originating in the Department of Architecture, which addresses the question ‘How do we want to and how can we build and live in the future?’ in order to work on it in a real-world laboratory.
The role of building and design in the sustainability transition, with the aim of achieving aesthetic, liveable development, is to be discussed with students and the public and tested in practice – both in terms of designed and social space. BAULAB sees itself as an experimental and innovative tool in teaching. To promote interdisciplinary exchange, it aims to be located on the h_da campus, at a transition to public urban space. In this context, the CAMPUSBAULAB will be created in the two years 2024-2026 as a field of experimentation and temporary outdoor workshop. This will enable practice-oriented experiments in the field of sustainable construction and participatory processes.
