Following five successful artistic surveys – from Darmstadt to Milan – the Office for Artistic Surveying (AfkV) will continue its work in September 2026 in Frankfurt-Höchst. Starting from the project space B25, the focus will be on the spatial and social relationships between the Höchst Industrial Park and the surrounding district.

At the core lies the question of how industry and neighbourhood are interconnected – both in terms of urban structure and social fabric. Using artistic methods, the AfkV explores these intersections and opens up new perspectives on existing neighbourhoods, boundaries, and connections.

social.form, in collaboration with Valentin Braun and Raum für kulturelle Fragen e.V., invites an artistic practitioner through an open call to take on the leadership of the AfkV for four weeks as an Artist in Residence. The aim is to explore the relationship between the industrial park and the neighbourhood artistically and to make these insights accessible to the public.

Alongside the residency, social.form and Valentin Braun will develop a critical programme in cooperation with local stakeholders. A series of cultural events will accompany the artistic work, creating spaces for exchange, encounter, and participation. The AfkV seeks to establish points of connection between local residents, their individual perspectives and stories, and art and culture. In doing so, the identity of the place is brought into focus, key issues are made tangible, and collective dialogue is encouraged.

Application period (open call): 8 June – 5 July 2026
Application deadline: 5 July 2026, 23:59
Artist residency: 29 August – 26 September 2026
Final exhibition: 29 September – 11 October 2026

The AfkV is a method for urban planning surveys developed by social.form (an architectural practice specialising in project development, space and action, based in Darmstadt).

In Höchst, the AfkV is being implemented in cooperation with Valentin Braun and the cultural association Raum für kulturelle Fragen e.V. The Frankfurt Historical Museum and the Frankfurt-Höchst District Management are already on board as local partners – we look forward to further collaborations, so please get in touch!
