The 'Reading Room' acts as a critical space for intervention in established knowledge production and questions the marginalisation of various groups from the post-Eastern context. With the help of a multi-layered analysis, stereotypical attributions are deconstructed and new understandings developed.

The combination of academic texts, personal documents and artistic works creates an alternative space of knowledge that reveals the complexity and heterogeneity of migration experiences. In this discursive space, hegemonic narratives about migration from the so-called East in the 1990s are broken down and replaced by multiple perspectives. The reading room serves as a platform for critical engagement with media representations, political categorisations and social patterns of perception, but also as a public meeting place, inviting visitors to linger, read and exchange ideas. It presents books, texts and media from the diasporic contexts of the post-Eastern communities. Over the course of the year, it will be supplemented with materials from the workshops.

The collective de_colonialanguage, Ani Menua, Elena Malzew and Irina Denkmann combine expertise from art, activism and research to form PostOst. They work transculturally with diasporic communities and develop formats between public space, mediation and artistic practice.
