Gaming for/against Democracy? Politics and anti-democratic sentiment in gaming spaces. Video games are no longer a marginal phenomenon, and digital platforms where video game content is shared are hugely popular. Gaming spaces also serve as venues for social interaction and can influence attitudes and opinions.
How do anti-democratic actors use these spaces? Where is the potential for political education? And what role does the design of gaming spaces and platforms play in this? We want to discuss these and other questions together with our guests and the audience.
Panel discussion with:
Severin Schwalb, Education Officer, Good Gaming Support
Constantin Winkler, Radicalization and Anti-Semitism Researcher (PRIF)
Mareike Stürenburg, Right-wing Extremism Researcher with a focus on gaming communities (University of Tübingen)
Moderator: Yvonne Blum (PRIF)
The event is free of charge
