Frankfurt RheinMain is the World Design Capital 2026! The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) and the Volkshochschule Frankfurt (VHS) invite you to an exciting series of events that explores the connection between design, democracy, and peace, and how democracy and peace can be designed for the long term.
With Oxford-style debates, interactive formats, and barrierfree access, we are creating a vibrant platform where everyone can have a say and actively participate in shaping our democracy.
Successful peace negotiations in violent conflicts are rare. But how can conflicts be resolved through negotiations, and how can these negotiations be structured in form and content to create the conditions for a negotiated peace? What factors make negotiations and their success in achieving a sustainable resolution of a conflict more likely? And what conclusions can be drawn from this regarding ongoing conflicts such as those in Ukraine or Gaza? Jonas J. Driedger (PRIF) will speak at the second event in the series “Designing Democracy – Designing Peace” about the design and potential success of peace negotiations. Yvonne Blum (PRIF) will moderate the event and the subsequent discussion.
The Volkshochschule Frankfurt am Main is a central hub for adults in Frankfurt seeking lifelong learning and continuing education. The PRIF (Leibniz Institute for Peace and Conflict Research) is a leading research institute in Europe dedicated to studying the causes and solutions of international and domestic conflicts. It combines interdisciplinary basic research with the transfer of knowledge to the fields of politics, media, and society.
