Owing to climate change, cities are getting ever hotter – with tangible consequences. Heat, drought, water scarcity, and flooding, all make it clear how urgently urban spaces need to be rethought and redesigned. Since cities cause the lion’s share of CO₂ emissions they also bear a special responsibility in this regard – for example, when converting infrastructure and public spaces. Many of them seek to become climate-neutral over the next 15 years. What does that mean for the future, for planning, architecture, and life in cities?
