2. Eröffnung Kunststation Hauptwache

Right in the midst of everyday life, on Level D of the Hauptwache underground station, the Kunststation Hauptwache presents works by students in a public space.

In seven display cases, exhibitions take place directly in the passageway – between escalators, platforms, and walkways.

The exhibition is dedicated to the meadow as a habitat and its ecological significance.

On view are works focusing on plants, insects, birds, and other animals. They draw attention to the decline in biodiversity and highlight the importance of functioning ecosystems.

Seven display cases feature works made of ceramic, glass, and metal. The choice of materials results from the site’s specific fire safety regulations.

Some of the works were created in workshops at the Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt, including in collaboration with artist Ulrike Markus.

The Kunststation Hauptwache is a project by Domäne S – für Schülerinnen und Schüler e.V. It enables young people to present their work in public space – in a location passed by thousands of people every day. The project thrives on the voluntary commitment of many participants and highlights the importance of cultural education for urban society.
