Global climate change is the central challenge in designing the city of the future. The main goal is to achieve climate neutrality and the associated reduction in CO2 emissions, particularly in the areas of housing, transport, food, agriculture and industry.

What role do cities play in climate change? What strategies are they using to slow it down?

As the largest consumers of energy, urban areas are largely responsible for CO2 emissions, while at the same time many of them are also affected by the consequences of global warming. The climate-neutral city aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to such an extent that it no longer causes any net emissions of CO2 and other climate-damaging gases.

Covering an area of 400 square metres, the exhibition uses good examples from Europe to showcase measures and (architectural) strategies that can be used to shape a liveable future.

The exhibition presents comprehensive research activities and shows options that local authorities can take to protect the climate. It raises questions about the feasibility, responsibilities and criticisms of the measures chosen. The content is based primarily on discussions with mayors, residents, planners and activists about their cities, their experiences and their visions for the future. A special focus is placed on the FrankfurtRhineMain metropolitan region.

The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive programme of events and educational activities, in which various theoretical and practical positions are discussed.
