With its functional, efficient floor plans, the New Frankfurt (Das Neue Frankfurt) was a testing ground for Modernism. As part of the New Neues Frankfurt project, architecture students from the University of Siegen are working in groups to develop planning games. These games allow housing estate residents and exhibition visitors to interactively engage with the housing models and social questions of the New Frankfurt, apply them to our current situation, and spark conversations with one another.

Since the beginning of May, selected designs have been on display at the mayhaus as part of the New Neues Frankfurt exhibition. A further development of the prototypes shown will be presented during Open – Design Week, where exhibition visitors will be invited to participate. The focus here is as much on playability and the questions addressed as it is on appealing design.

In cooperation with: University of Siegen, Department of Architecture, N_AS Neue Architekturschule Siegen Prof. Astrid Wuttke, Katharina Specht, Rosa Hanig.
