The Service Design Day of the Design Policy Days, part of WDC 2026, brings together practitioners from administration, politics and business with international service design experts to promote citizen-centred services in Hesse, the Rhine-Main region and beyond. It looks back on the WDC year 2026, celebrates successes achieved in service design and reflects on key challenges.
The focus is on exchanging proven solutions and jointly developing implementable measures that will be directly incorporated into the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Design Action Plan. The day brings together experiences, prototypes and debates on public services, creative bureaucracy and service design, and highlights the importance of good services for the day-to-day operations of administration, businesses and citizens.
Key topics:
- Citizen-centred design of public services
- Service design as an instrument of administrative reform
- Translation of WDC prototypes into permanent administrative practices
- Design Action Plan Frankfurt Rhine-Main: concrete measures & implementation logic
- Intersectoral cooperation (administration, politics, business, civil society)
- Data, statistics and digital services as a design task
- Communities of practice in the public sector
- Scaling and institutionalisation of service design approaches
