Playscape Wiesbaden – Stadtmobiliar

A playscape is a new form of street furniture – a fusion of playground, sports field, park and art object – as a cooler, more urban alternative to the classic playground. It creates an attractive, eye-catching place for activity, encounters and communication.

Its design can positively influence the cityscape, rejuvenate it and enrich city marketing by making it more ‘Instagrammable’. In the best case scenario, a playscape functions as a cross-generational meeting place with numerous activities on offer, boosting city marketing with its positive, powerful design. The proposed play equipment is significantly more appealing than conventional ‘playground equipment’ – for example, Wiesbaden's theme of ‘water’ or ‘hot springs’ could be played with in a modern and ‘trendy’ way with an authentic reference to the location. The location of the playscape in a vacant lot on a somewhat desolate side street in the city centre makes the area livelier, safer and increases the quality of life.

The team consists of architects from 3deluxe. The project stems from their own initiative with the aim of making a positive contribution to the development of Wiesbaden's city centre.
