Playscape Wiesbaden – Stadtmobiliar

Exhibition at WerkRaum: Playscape

In July, the project “Playscape Wiesbaden – Urban Furniture” will be presented as part of the WerkRaum programme.

A playscape is a new form of urban furniture – a fusion of playground, sports area, park, and art object – offering a more contemporary and urban alternative to the traditional playground. It creates an attractive, striking space for activity, interaction, and communication. Its design can positively influence the urban landscape, bring a sense of renewal, and enhance city marketing in an “Instagrammable” way. Ideally, a playscape functions as a multigenerational meeting place with a wide range of activities, strengthening urban identity through bold and positive design.

The proposed play elements are significantly more engaging than conventional playground equipment. They could, for example, reinterpret Wiesbaden’s theme of “water” and “hot springs” in a modern, playful way with a strong reference to the local context. Placing the playscape in a vacant lot on a somewhat neglected side street would help activate the area, improve safety, and increase the quality of public space.

The team consists of architects from 3deluxe. The project stems from their own initiative with the aim of making a positive contribution to the development of Wiesbaden's city centre.
