Museum Giersch der Goethe-Universität (Frankfurt am Main)

How can a technologized society be based on radical care and participation rather than competition?

The Multispecies Members Club (MMC) at the Museum Giersch of Goethe University Frankfurt is an exhibition that brings together artistic and scientific perspectives on artificial intelligence, ecology, and socio-political developments, encouraging us to actively and sustainably shape our real and digital environments. It explores how humans, animals, plants, and machines can coexist as equal members of an inclusive club. Visitors to the historic villa can experience interactive installations, discursive formats, and participatory offerings. In the upper floors and the museum garden, the installation The Garden Protocol by Andreas Greiner presents a self-regulating ecosystem that connects plants, humans, and technological systems through the shared resource of water. Goethe University Frankfurt contributes its expertise through departments such as AI research, life sciences, and landscape design. The project represents a forward-looking fusion of technology, sustainability, and democratic participation — a living experiment for a more caring and inclusive society of tomorrow.

The MGGU – Museum Giersch of Goethe University – serves as a forum for art and science. It presents exhibitions of social relevance, creates spaces for exchange between the university and the city, and is part of Frankfurt’s Museum Embankment (Museumsufer). At the same time, it highlights new artistic perspectives, anchors them in the Rhine-Main region, and establishes connections to international art as well as to research conducted at Goethe University.
