Jugend im Stadtraum

2026

Deutsches Architekturmuseum

The German Architecture Museum's Jugend im Stadtraum programme focuses on the perspectives of young people: What are the needs of young people in public spaces, and how would they like to use and help shape them? In creative workshops (2024 and 2025), their views were developed in collaboration with schools, youth groups, and initiatives, and the first installations and locations were tested.

In 2026, we will focus on two main areas: On the one hand, the topics and projects developed will be made visible in prominent public locations, thus inspiring public discourse on a youth-friendly city. On the other hand, specific locations will be established, designed, and used to create new meeting places and youth-friendly qualities in urban spaces.

One of the sub-projects is the “Open Walls” initiative, which was developed in collaboration with Ort 3 and Frankfurt graffiti artists. The goal is to create a permanent “open wall” in downtown Frankfurt—a legal place for graffiti art and creative expression that can also serve as a lively meeting place and catalyst for youth culture in public space.

The group “Ort 3” developed the mobile walls in cooperation with Philipp Wegener and other key players in Frankfurt's graffiti scene and played a central role in the project's implementation.
