Turbo Pascal in Mühlheim am Main: A playful meeting format on social tensions.

Turbo Pascal is developing an interactive format with regional relevance for the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain. The group is drawing on its work from previous years on political and social issues such as democracy, questions of faith, children's voting rights, and protest. The audience doesn't just watch, but actively participates in decision-making, takes a stand, votes, and engages in conversation. The Willy Brandt Hall in Mühlheim becomes a “hall for everyone.” An intergenerational audience is drawn into a game that is both serious and entertaining.

Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region are characterized by stark social differences: prosperity and financial capital on the one hand, poverty and unemployment on the other. While population groups in urban centers are separated by neighborhoods, Turbo Pascal asks how dividing lines are revealed or concealed in rural areas and how social background determines life trajectories.

Using low-threshold positioning games, the performers negotiate cultural differentiation criteria such as living conditions, income, political orientation, club memberships, leisure activities, and diets—without forcing people to come out. The aim is to create a space in which boundaries are addressed and entrenched perspectives are broken down.

For its research, Turbo Pascal works with schools, clubs, and local institutions to incorporate specific regional topics and reach as diverse an audience as possible.

A project in cooperation with the city of Mühlheim, initiated by the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain as part of World Design Capital 2026.
