Haute Innovation – Zukunftsagentur für Material und Technologie; Hessen Design e.V.

We are at the beginning of a major transition towards a circular economy. It will change all industries and entail a redesign of most products. Product designers play a crucial role in shaping a new economic system with circular business models. After all, they are the ones who plan future resource use and give shape to material cycles in tomorrow's product culture.

In this context, the new economic logic will have to work in harmony with nature. This applies above all to industries that traditionally use a large proportion of natural materials or short-lived products that have so far mostly been made from synthetic plastics.

3D-printed speakers made from mycelium, seat shells made from hemp fibers, or textiles made from orange peels: Highly advanced biomaterials are currently finding their way into the markets. This phenomenon coincides with a move away from synthetic materials, which are considered a source of microplastics in nature and have a high carbon footprint.

In the exhibition ‘From Nature to Nature’, the future agency Haute Innovation, in cooperation with Hessen Design, presents examples of highly developed biomaterials and their potential for a circular economy. The materials can circulate in both technical and biological cycles and have no negative impact on health or nature.

The Haute Innovation agency for the future offers consulting and communication services at the interface between technology and design and specialises in circular materials, additive manufacturing and smart material innovations.

Hessen Design is a centre of expertise, consultation and communication for design in Hesse, which highlights outstanding design achievements across their entire cultural, social and economic spectrum.
