Fritten für Frankfurt
Building on the positive experiences with modular seating and planting furniture, which were created in 2022 together with Studio Jonathan Radetz, the neighborhood initiative Bockenheim außer Haus, and local residents on Tilly-Edinger-Platz, the idea is now being expanded to other districts.
The goal is to provide broad access to urban furniture—known as the “Frankfurter Fritten.” For this purpose, a mobile workshop will be set up on Tilly-Edinger-Platz, where engaged citizens, initiatives or associations from other neighborhoods can plan and build their own Frankfurter Fritten for their district under professional guidance.
The pop-up furniture is designed to appeal to as many social groups as possible and is accompanied by knowledge-sharing about life in public space, as well as joint activities such as eating fries together.
The initial phase kicks off on the Sommerstraße (September 06, 2025), where the project will be presented and the mobile workshop introduced. After construction, the furniture serves not only as everyday meeting points and impulses for sustainable neighborhood culture, but also as a starting point for small events. In all districts, (inaugural) activities with volunteers and neighbors will take place, and local groups will be able to independently organize smaller series such as concerts, dance evenings, or boules nights.
