„Des is doch Design!“

Since 2021, Lebenshilfe Frankfurt has collaborated with a growing number of Frankfurt museums in the project “Einfach reinkommen” (“Simply Come In”). People with disabilities and museum educators prepare their own tours, which are presented to the public in autumn and winter.

The project provides broad access and participation opportunities: qualification workshops for the teams take place in the museums, allowing exploration of locations that are not normally accessible to all people with disabilities. The teams then develop their own individual tours of each venue.

This approach enables people with disabilities to actively shape their museum or exhibition experience. The concept is expanded to include tours in public spaces. Together with selected museums, new and diverse tours are created. At least two, ideally four, tours provide individual insights into the theme of design. The participants with disabilities decide which design elements in Frankfurt’s urban space are highlighted.

The teams receive one or two initial workshops and then develop their tours. A final rehearsal allows teams to learn from each other and provide mutual support.

The project is implemented by the newly established educational project of Lebenshilfe Frankfurt. The team consists of the project leader, a project staff member, and a student assistant – all long-term employees with experience in similar educational projects.
