LaCapella Zellhausen und Vocalensemble »Die Freunde« Zellhausen
...
The choirs “la capella” of the Liederkranz Zellhausen Singing Society and the vocal ensemble “Die Freunde” are fulfilling a long-cherished wish as part of the “Chorkette – Musical Partnerships in the Offenbach District”: a joint concert titled “Two Choirs, One Summer Night.”
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, the concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in St. Wendelinus Church. The first part of the program centers on Josef Gabriel Rheinberger’s Mass in E-flat Major for two mixed choirs—an a cappella work in which Rheinberger combines polyphonic choral writing with the rich sonority of the late Romantic period. It was a particular priority for the musical directors Ralf Emge (la capella) and Christoph Dombrowski (“Die Freunde”) to incorporate the sonic strengths of both choirs into the program selection.
At dusk, the action shifts to the church square under the lime trees: A jazz trio featuring Johannes Wallbaum (piano), Sven Garrecht (saxophone), and Valentin Michel (drums) takes the stage, while both choirs present songs, madrigals, and arrangements by Bob Chilcott, Anders Edenroth, Oliver Gies, and others—partly separately, partly together, and partly with jazz accompaniment.
Refreshments will be provided.
“Chorkette – Musical Partnerships in the Offenbach District” is a project involving choirs from the Offenbach district, initiated by the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain as part of World Design Capital 2026. The project will run from 16 to 27 June 2026.
