Exhibition on the topics of ‘Changing living spaces’, ‘Sustainable transformation’ and ‘Architecture of the material transition’.

Housing is a basic human need. Good living conditions and a functioning environment are important for social cohesion. That is why the creation of adequate housing is enshrined as a state objective in the Hessian Constitution. Housing is undergoing change – socially, economically and ecologically. Future housing construction must be intergenerational, flexible, barrier-free as well as climate- and resource-friendly. It is part of vibrant neighbourhoods with high-quality open spaces, sustainable mobility and social diversity. There is great potential in redensification and in the conversion and reuse of existing buildings. The construction sector accounts for up to 40% of greenhouse gas emissions. Its transformation therefore offers great potential for savings. Climate protection, resource scarcity, the energy and mobility transition, digitalisation and demographic change require new ways of thinking. Sustainability combines ecological, economic, social and cultural qualities. The aim is to plan in harmony with natural resources and with a view to current and future generations.

An exhibition by the Chamber of Architects and Town Planners of Hesse
