Verleihung (be aware) Designpreis für Inklusion

The non-profit association design inclusion e.V. is once again presenting the nationwide (be aware) Design Award for Inclusion 2026, which carries a prize of €10,000 for the winner.

The (be aware) 2026 call for entries focuses on sensory perception—seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, feeling, touching, and orientation—as well as aspects of understanding, communication, and care. Everything can be designed! Prior to the evening event, nominees will present their projects in short talks to the interdisciplinary jury in a closed session. Afterward, the jury will deliberate on the quality of the projects regarding the evaluation criteria and decide on the award winner. The award recognizes not only design excellence but, above all, a specific mindset: empathy, responsibility, and the courage to break new ground.

We are looking for projects that open up new design perspectives, address real-world needs, and develop accessible solutions through innovative approaches to perception and interaction. Inclusive design puts democratic values ​​into practice: it protects, involves, and values ​​people with disabilities, thereby contributing to the protection of minorities. It is Design for Democracy in its purest form.

The announcement of the winning project will be accompanied by an exhibition of all nominated works and complemented by a panel discussion titled: Who cares? Care-friendly living spaces through inclusive design.
