Unlock Europe – Escape Game

EU summit in Brussels: Black saloons pull up, and female heads of state and government hurry into the European Parliament building. The future of Europe is at stake. But there’s a mishap: the lift breaks down – the politicians are stuck.

A local youth group steps in and takes charge of the negotiations. Now it is a matter of resolving key issues: healthcare, climate protection, peace between member states and protection against online hate. The documents are encrypted – only by working together can clues be deciphered and decisions made. A race against time begins.

How can we promote security and peace in Europe? How can conflicts be dealt with constructively and compromises found? The escape game ‘Unlock Europe’, developed by the Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Foundation (BKHS) and the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg (IFSH), is aimed at young people aged 15 and over. It combines exciting puzzles with the teaching of subject knowledge and practical skills for democratic and peaceful coexistence.
