To strengthen social cohesion, Germany needs a nationwide, clearly visible public infrastructure for non-profit activities. As inspiration for the symposium’s discourse, the project introduces the conceptual idea of a “House of Civil Society.” The model reflects exemplary questions intended to generate new questions and solution-oriented ideas together with the symposium participants.
Day 1: What impact goals should the House of Civil Society commit to? What socio-political mission could it support? What needs for such institutions are already becoming apparent today?
Day 2: The second session focuses on concretizing the approach. What key elements of a usage concept are emerging? Can the building be envisioned as an iconography for civil society—not as a blueprint for implementation, but as an impulse for the development of individual ideas?
Day 3: Which factors crucial to long-term success should be taken into account? How can regional embeddedness be ensured, and can an “event culture of civil society” be created to support this? How should the prevention of extremism be addressed? Which leadership and financing options should be explored?
