The City of Frankfurt has succeeded in securing US American artist Janet Echelman for a new work as part of World Design Capital 2026. Echelman is internationally renowned for her monumental, poetic net sculptures and is considered one of the leading figures in public art.
Starting in July, one of her aerial sculptures will float above Konstablerwache: A Sky Full of Hope will span one of the city center’s busiest and most debated squares. The sculpture will remain installed well beyond the WDC year 2026.
Dr. Ina Hartwig, Head of the Department of Culture and Science, and Stephanie Wüst, Head of the Department of Economic Affairs, Law and City Marketing, will present the project together with the artist.
