Presentation of Plans for the New Frankfurt Cultural Mile
As part of the Open Design Week, World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 invites the public to a special event during Frankfurt’s Rooftop Day: on the terrace of the Jewish Museum Frankfurt, the future of the city center will be presented and discussed. The spotlight will be on two central urban planning concepts: the planned High-Rise Promenade and the Cultural Mile running along the historic Wallanlagen (ramparts), which will celebrate their 125th anniversary in 2027. Dr. Markus Gwechenberger, Head of the Department for Planning and Housing; Dr. Ina Hartwig, Head of the Department for Culture and Science; and Tina Zapf-Rodriguez, Head of the Department for Climate, Environment, and Women’s Affairs, will present their visions and offer insights into current planning initiatives.
Moderated by Peter Cachola Schmal, Director of the German Architecture Museum (DAM), the event fosters a public dialogue regarding the continued development of the city center—at the intersection of architecture, culture, and urban open space.
