When the Roman legions withdrew from Wiesbaden about 1,600 years ago, they left behind not only thermal baths and forts, but also their writing system and the alphabet we use today.

In the writing workshop at the Wiesbaden City Museum, you'll use a reed pen, ink, and papyrus to explore how a Roman writing room operated. How were papyrus, parchment, and wax tablets used? What were pumice and quills used for? What did Roman writing look like, and how did the Latin alphabet differ from ours?

The workshop is led by Lisa Liebermann.
