We are a restaurant, not a soup kitchen—the respect and appreciation ada_kantine shows its guests is a core element of the concept.

Table service, set tables, and a three-course meal made from rescued food create an atmosphere that conveys genuine respect. While this ethos is reflected in many aspects of the operation, the current furniture falls short. Many guests have physical health issues and find it difficult to sit comfortably on the existing furniture for any length of time.

Together, ada_kantine and studio formagora aim to design a reception area and, if possible, a line of furniture (tables, chairs, benches) that meets the needs of both the guests and the space. In keeping with the venue's concept, the furniture will be produced using as much reclaimed material as possible, with participants crafting the pieces together during public building events.

ada_kantine is a solidarity-based kitchen in Frankfurt-Bockenheim. Since July 2020, they have been serving delicious lunches from Friday to Monday in the premises of the former "Akademie der Arbeit" (Academy of Labor) on the old university campus. They cook vegan and vegetarian meals out of political conviction. The canteen is operated by a very open-knit group of around 200 volunteers and various associations, and is supported by donations.
