Mattia Noal: Expanded Painting

Frankfurt-based artist Mattia Noal presents new works on 13–14 June at the keinstilraum by keinStil.GmbH.

Noal works within the field of Expanded Painting and investigates the relationship between painting and digital, virtual experiential spaces. His work is grounded in the question of how painting is being redefined today in the tension between physical support and virtual worlds. A particular focus lies on immersive experiences in digital environments such as video games, where virtual situations are perceived as real.

In his works, the canvas becomes a site of overlap: elements from digital scenarios—characters, environments, or interactive objects—meet the language of painting itself. This creates a space between image, surface, and virtual experience.

The keinstilraum continues to serve as an open platform and spatial framework. It is understood as a working and exhibition space in which different artistic positions become visible and unfold within a shared context.

With Mattia Noal, the program expands to a position that understands painting as a contemporary, evolving medium and re-examines its boundaries in dialogue with digital image worlds.

The project is initiated by keinStil.GmbH, an interior architecture and spatial design studio focused on working with existing structures and a process-driven approach to making.
