Design is transformation: from products to societies

The two-day event takes up the leitmotif of Design for Democracy. The focus is on the role of industrial design, product design and UX design as drivers of social transformation. The aim is to raise the profile of design as a field shaping sustainability, innovation and democratic values, and to develop future perspectives for education and practice.

The plan is to hold a conference day with keynote speeches on design, transformation and democracy; panel discussions on sustainability, AI, economics and ethics; and a panel on the future of design education. 

A participatory BarCamp with designers, teachers and students is planned for the second day. The focus will be on developing common questions and solutions for the role of industrial design, product design and UX design in times of digitalisation, climate change and social change.

The Association of German Industrial Designers (VDID) is a professional association that represents the interests of industrial designers in Germany in relation to industry, politics and culture. The association offers a platform for exchange and networking as well as numerous services and support. The association's goal is to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation and highlight the importance of design for the economy and society.
