Homestar – Your favourite songs as lip-sync performances

At 17, you still had dreams. Or at 14. Or even yesterday.

Who hasn’t stood alone in their room in front of the mirror, picked up a hairbrush, a tennis racket or a deodorant can as a microphone, and imitated their favourite star? Lip-syncing, air guitar, crazy dance moves, big emotions and that brief moment when you think you really are them. All to yourself. Behind closed doors.

Here, you can bring that moment from your private life into the public sphere.

In the Bahnhofsviertel, a glam room is taking shape – a space halfway between a teenager’s bedroom and a stage for self-empowerment. Outside, there’s the street, people’s glances, the public eye. Inside, there’s a space for creative expression, self-presentation and grand performances. And you won’t see the world outside.

To the tune of your favourite song, you can perform, dance, sing, strike a pose or improvise in front of a mirrored wall. We’ll provide props and accessories in a setting fit for a teenager’s bedroom – what you make of it is up to you.

Passers-by and visitors can watch your performance from outside, whilst you can’t see them. The perfect stepping stone to success.

This is where two worlds collide – the private space of your own room and the public realm of the street. A game of visibility, courage, performance, spontaneity and participation.

Come along: On Saturday 10 October, between 12 noon and 7 pm, we’re giving you the chance you’ve always wanted. The sound will be broadcast outside via loudspeakers. You can sign up on the spot. Artistic exploration can begin in a low-threshold way. A lack of resources or a perceived lack of skill can lead to new forms of expression.
